ALIEN SIGNAL - DEEP SPACE INVESTIGATION is a three-round space investigation competition for school students in Classes 6, 7 and 8, with up to 100 participants arranged as 20 teams of five. Teams first solve radio-signal, frequency, wavelength and pattern challenges; then identify planetary sources using Solar System and astronomy clues; and finally combine their codes to decode a deep-space message. SEDS coordinators collect and evaluate each round separately. Scores are awarded out of 100 marks: 30 for Round 1, 30 for Round 2 and 40 for the Final Mission.

All necessary telemetry instructions, workspace desks, power supplies, and competition field infrastructure are maintained and provisioned on-site by Kumaraguru SEDS organizers.

RULES & GUIDELINES
- RULE 01 Team Composition: Each team must have exactly 5 members. Up to 20 teams of five can participate.
- RULE 02 Three Rounds Mandatory: Teams must participate in all three rounds (Signal Detection, Deep Space Investigation, Final Mission).
- RULE 03 Independent Work: All work must be done within the team; cross-team collaboration or sharing answers is prohibited.
- RULE 04 Answer Collection: Answer sheets must be submitted when each round ends; answers cannot be changed once submitted.
- RULE 05 100-Point Scoring: Round 1 (30 pts), Round 2 (30 pts), Round 3 (40 pts). Highest score wins; Round 3 score breaks ties.
EVENT TIMELINE
Participants check in, form 20 teams of five, receive team numbers and are seated at assigned tables.
Coordinators introduce the Alien Signal story, explain rules, the 100-point scoring system and envelopes.
Teams solve signal patterns, frequency-wavelength and wave-classification challenges.
Teams identify planets and astronomy clues to determine the possible source and obtain code 2.
Teams combine previous codes with light-year, distance, and radio clues to reveal the final message.
Coordinators calculate scores, conduct tie-break if required, and distribute winner prizes.
